  “In 2008 my wife and I bought a bracelet from Romanoos Jewelry in Carmel, California. The cost was $12,000. Alas, this was done in the heat of the moment. It is beautiful, but we changed our mind about keeping it a few months later. Ramonoos would not take it back, even for $3,000. So, I went to six or seven jewelers in my area (Menlo Park, Palo Alto, CA), trying to get at least $3,000. I couldn't. The highest offer I got was $1,250, which I didn't accept. I have since found that Carmel (and places of like charm) are notorious for exorbitant mark-ups. Be careful.”
